Raúl Julio y Arcelay, known professionally as Raul Julia, was a celebrated Puerto Rican actor born on July 9, 1940. He became one of the most distinguished actors of his generation, known for his remarkable versatility and theatrical presence. Julia had a legendary career in American theater, performing in numerous Broadway productions and earning multiple Tony Award nominations. He brought Shakespearean roles to life with tremendous skill and passion, establishing himself as a serious dramatic actor. Beyond theater, Julia became widely recognized for his film roles, including his iconic portrayal of Gomez Addams in "The Addams Family" (1991) and its sequel, roles that showcased his comedic timing and charm. His final film role as General M. Bison in "Street Fighter" (1994) became a cult classic. Julia was also known for his commitment to social causes and his work promoting Latino representation in entertainment.
