Matthew Thomas Ryan (born May 17, 1985) is a retired professional football quarterback who spent 16 seasons in the National Football League, primarily with the Atlanta Falcons. Drafted by Atlanta in 2008, Ryan became one of the NFL's most reliable and consistent quarterbacks, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections and leading the Falcons to numerous playoff appearances. In 2016, Ryan had one of the greatest individual seasons in NFL history, winning the league's MVP award and leading the Falcons to Super Bowl LI, though they fell short against the New England Patriots in a historic comeback.
