Katerina Witt (born 1960) is one of figure skating's most accomplished and celebrated athletes, representing East Germany during the Cold War era when the country was a dominant force in the sport. Born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, Witt trained under the renowned coach Jutta Müller, who also coached multiple Olympic champions. Her competitive career spanned the 1980s, during which she won two Olympic gold medals at the 1984 Sarajevo and 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, along with four World Championship titles.
