46th U.S. President, former Vice President, Delaware senator
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (born November 20, 1942) is an American politician and the 46th President of the United States, sworn in on January 20, 2021. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and raised in Claymont, Delaware, Biden earned a law degree from Syracuse University before launching his political career. Elected to the New Castle County Council in 1972, Biden was subsequently elected to the U.S. Senate at age 29, making him one of the youngest people ever elected to the chamber. During his 36-year Senate tenure (1973-2009), Biden established himself as a foreign policy expert, chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee and later the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He was instrumental in negotiations regarding numerous significant legislation and international affairs. Biden served as Vice President under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017, where he addressed the financial crisis, supported military withdrawal from Iraq, and championed LGBTQ+ rights and criminal justice reform. After leaving office, Biden remained politically active before announcing his 2020 presidential candidacy. His presidency has been marked by significant legislation including infrastructure investment, pandemic response, and international alliance strengthening, alongside challenges including inflation and international conflicts. Biden's long political career reflects his evolution on various issues and his central role in late 20th and early 21st-century American politics.

Thinking about the name
Jo
Hebrew origin
“A timeless, universally approachable name that works as both a standalone given name and a nickname for longer names like Joseph, Joanna, or Josephine. Jo carries literary weight—made famous by Jo March in 'Little Women'—and conveys independent spirit and casual approachability. Its simplicity is its strength, transcending gender and generation.”
