Jeff Sessions

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (born December 24, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the 84th Attorney General of the United States from 2017 to 2018 under President Donald Trump. A longtime Republican Senator from Alabama representing the state for 20 years (1997-2017), Sessions became one of the Senate's most vocal advocates for restrictive immigration policies and strong law enforcement measures. As Attorney General, he implemented the Trump administration's controversial 'zero tolerance' immigration policy and attempted to rescind DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). His tenure was marked by significant controversy, particularly regarding his recusal from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, a decision that led to Trump's public criticism and his eventual forced resignation. Sessions maintained a traditional conservative stance on drug policy, civil rights enforcement, and criminal justice. Prior to his Senate career, he served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama and as Alabama's Attorney General.
