Frederick Law Olmsted

Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903) was an American landscape architect and city planner whose visionary designs fundamentally shaped American urban environments and established landscape architecture as a major discipline. Born in Connecticut, Olmsted traveled extensively before discovering his passion for landscape design. His most famous work is Central Park in New York City, which he designed collaboratively with architect Calvert Vaux beginning in 1858.
