Evan Lysacek
2010 Olympic gold medalist in figure skating
Evan Lysacek (born June 4, 1985) is an American figure skater whose Olympic victory remains one of the most celebrated achievements in American ice skating history. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Lysacek began skating at the age of six and developed into one of the most technically skilled and artistically expressive male figure skaters of his era. He achieved his breakthrough at the 2006 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, winning his first of two national titles. However, his crowning achievement came at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he captured the gold medal in men's singles competition, becoming only the third American man to win Olympic gold in figure skating. His Olympic performance was noted for its technical difficulty, emotional depth, and artistic interpretation. Following his Olympic success, Lysacek competed professionally, participating in ice shows and championships, and eventually transitioned into broadcasting and commentary. He has since become a respected figure skating analyst for major television networks, contributing his expert insight to the sport. Lysacek's Olympic victory occurred during a period when American men's figure skating had struggled on the world stage, making his achievement particularly significant. His graceful skating style and technical excellence continue to be celebrated as a benchmark of excellence in the sport.

Thinking about the name
Evan
Welsh origin
“The English form of the Welsh Ifan, derived from the Hebrew Yohanan, meaning 'God is gracious.' Evan became massively popular in the late 1990s and 2000s, offering a modern, masculine sound without being trendy or dated. It strikes a perfect balance between approachable and distinguished.”
