Derek
Germanic origin
“Derived from the Old Germanic elements 'theud' (people) and 'ric' (ruler/powerful), Derek means 'ruler of the people.' The name gained prominence across English-speaking countries in the mid-20th century and maintains strong, understated appeal. It balances approachability with quiet authority, making it a perennial favorite.”
