Eliud Kipchoge (born November 5, 1984), commonly known as Wilson Kipchoge, is a Kenyan professional marathon runner widely regarded as the greatest marathoner of his generation and one of the most accomplished distance runners in history. Most remarkably, on October 12, 2019, Kipchoge became the first human to run a marathon in under two hours, completing the distance in 1:59:40 at a specially organized event in Vienna, Austria. Kipchoge is also a two-time winner of the London Marathon and has won numerous other major marathons worldwide.
