Trae Young
NBA All-Star point guard, Atlanta Hawks franchise player
Trae Deshon Young (born September 19, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. Born in Dallas, Texas, Young attended the University of Oklahoma, where he set NCAA records for assists per game and ranked among the nation's scoring leaders. He was selected 5th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks but was traded to Atlanta on draft night. Young has quickly become the Hawks' franchise cornerstone, earning All-NBA honors and leading the team to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals at just 22 years old. Known for his unorthodox shooting form, exceptional court vision, and clutch performances, Young has revitalized the Hawks franchise. His distinctive style of play—combining playmaking with high-volume three-point shooting—has made him a fan favorite and one of the NBA's most electrifying players. Young's success has helped popularize the name Trae among contemporary baby names.
