Theodosia Burr Alston

Theodosia Burr Alston (1783–1812) was the daughter of Vice President Aaron Burr and one of the most celebrated women of early American society. Known for her exceptional education and intellectual prowess, Theodosia received an uncommon level of scholarly training for women of her time, studying languages, literature, philosophy, and science under her father's tutelage. She became a prominent figure in New York and South Carolina society, admired for her wit, charm, and erudition. Despite the scandal surrounding her father's duel with Alexander Hamilton and his later treason trial, Theodosia remained devoted to him and was considered a model of filial piety.
