Tex Ritter

Woodward Maurice 'Tex' Ritter (1905-1974) was an American country music singer, songwriter, and film and television actor who became one of the most important figures in Western music and cowboy entertainment. Born in Murvaul, Texas, Ritter epitomized the singing cowboy archetype that became popular in American entertainment during the 1930s and 1940s. He recorded numerous country and Western swing hits, including 'I Dreamed of a Hillbilly Heaven' and the theme song for 'High Noon,' which became one of his most enduring recordings. Ritter appeared in numerous B-Western films during Hollywood's golden age and became a recognizable figure in both music and cinema. His career spanned several decades, and he remained active in country music until his death.
