Tanya Donelly

Tanya Donelly (born July 14, 1966) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who emerged as a prominent figure in alternative and indie rock music during the 1980s and 1990s. She is best known as the founder and lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Throwing Muses, which she formed in the mid-1980s in Newport, Rhode Island. The band became part of the influential college rock and alternative music scene, earning critical acclaim for their innovative and experimental sound. In the early 1990s, Donelly formed the band Belly, which achieved commercial success with the 1993 debut album of the same name and the hit single 'Feed the Tree', which received significant MTV rotation. Her distinctive vocal style, songwriting abilities, and creative vision helped define the sound of 1990s alternative rock. Beyond her band work, Donelly has pursued a solo career and remained active in music production and performance.
