Sven Nykvist

Sven Erik Nykvist (1922–2006) was a celebrated Swedish cinematographer best known for his transformative work with legendary director Ingmar Bergman. Born in Mölndal, Sweden, Nykvist developed a distinctive visual style characterized by exquisite control of light, shadow, and composition. His collaboration with Bergman spanned decades, producing some of cinema's most visually stunning films including 'The Seventh Seal,' 'Through a Glass Darkly,' and 'Fanny and Alexander.' Nykvist won Academy Awards for Best Cinematography for 'Cries and Whispers' (1974) and 'Fanny and Alexander' (1984), cementing his status as one of cinema's greatest cinematographers.
