Sunil Dutt (June 6, 1929 – May 25, 1974) was a prolific Indian actor, producer, director, and politician who played a significant role in Hindi cinema during its golden era. Born in Khopoli, Maharashtra, he entered films in the late 1940s and quickly became a leading man, appearing in over 100 films across three decades. Dutt was particularly known for his romantic roles opposite leading actresses of the time. Beyond acting, he established himself as a producer and director, creating socially conscious cinema that addressed contemporary issues. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor and was recognized for his contributions to Indian cinema. In 1957, Dutt was elected to the Rajya Sabha (Indian Parliament) and remained active in politics, using his platform to advocate for film industry development and social causes.
