Summer Zervos
#MeToo advocate, Trump accuser, businesswoman and women's rights activist
Summer Zervos (born 1978) is an American businesswoman, television personality, and women's rights advocate who became a prominent figure in the #MeToo movement. After appearing on the television show The Apprentice in 2006, she worked in business and hospitality. In October 2016, during the U.S. presidential campaign, Zervos publicly accused Donald Trump of sexual assault and harassment, alleging an incident had occurred in 2007. She was subsequently one of multiple women to make similar accusations against Trump. Zervos filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump in 2017 after he denied her allegations and made statements she argued damaged her reputation. The case proceeded through multiple legal proceedings and appeals, becoming a landmark case in discussions of presidential immunity, defamation law, and sexual assault accountability. Zervos became an advocate for survivors of sexual assault and a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement. Her willingness to pursue legal action against a sitting president set a significant precedent in American jurisprudence. Though the case faced various legal obstacles and appeals, Zervos's courage in coming forward inspired many other survivors to speak publicly about their experiences. Her case has been cited extensively in legal and cultural discussions about power, accountability, and justice in the modern era.
