Story Musgrave

Story Musgrave (born August 19, 1935) is an American astronaut, engineer, and physician who flew six Space Shuttle missions between 1983 and 1996, making him one of the most experienced spacewalkers in history. Born in Boston but raised in the Boston area, Musgrave demonstrated exceptional intellectual ability from childhood, eventually earning advanced degrees in mathematics, operations research, computer science, medicine, and physiology. His diverse educational background prepared him uniquely for complex space operations. During his NASA career, Musgrave performed five spacewalks during the first Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission in 1993, a critical operation that corrected the telescope's optical flaw and restored its scientific capabilities.
