Jon Steven Young (born October 11, 1961) is a former professional American football quarterback who had a Hall of Fame career in the National Football League. After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Express of the USFL and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Young joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1987 as a backup to Joe Montana. When he eventually took over as the starting quarterback in 1991, Young led the 49ers to their fifth Super Bowl title in 1994 (Super Bowl XXIX), throwing six touchdown passes in that game. After retiring in 1999, he has remained involved in football commentary and charitable work. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
