Golden Slam winner, 22 Grand Slam titles, tennis legend

Her most notable achievement is winning the Golden Slam in 1988—becoming the first and only player in tennis history to win all four Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and U.S. Open) plus the Olympic gold medal in the same calendar year. Graf turned professional at age 13 and dominated women's tennis throughout the 1980s and 1990s, winning 22 Grand Slam singles titles and achieving the world number one ranking for a record 377 weeks. Her powerful game, featuring an exceptional serve and forehand, revolutionized women's tennis. Beyond her Grand Slam victories, she reached 31 Grand Slam finals and won numerous other tournaments. Graf retired in 1997 while still ranked high and has remained a cultural icon in Germany and globally. She married fellow tennis legend Andre Agassi in 2001, and the couple has become involved in philanthropic endeavors.

Thinking about the name
Steffie
English origin
“An anglicized diminutive of Stephanie or Stefan, this casual, friendly name preserves the Greek stephanos root while creating an informal, endearing character. Steffie feels warm and approachable, popular in English-speaking contexts as both a nickname and independent name. The -ie ending gives it a playful, youthful energy.”
