Stacy Peralta

Stacy Peralta (August 15, 1956 – ) is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and legendary action sports pioneer who rose to fame as one of the world's best skateboarders during the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Venice, California, he became part of the legendary Zephyr skateboard team alongside Tony Hawk and other pioneers who revolutionized skateboarding through innovative techniques and counterculture style. As a professional skateboarder and surfer, Peralta competed at the highest levels and influenced the development of modern skateboarding. Recognizing the creative potential of documenting his world, he transitioned into filmmaking in the 1980s, initially creating skate and surf videos that became hugely influential in action sports media. His most renowned work is the 2001 documentary 'Riding Giants,' which chronicles the history and culture of big-wave surfing with stylistic innovation and emotional depth.
