Siegfried & Roy
Revolutionary Las Vegas magic shows with exotic animals
Siegfried Fischbacher (June 13, 1939 – January 13, 2021) and Roy Horn (October 3, 1944 – May 8, 2020) were world-renowned illusionists who transformed Las Vegas entertainment through their legendary performances. Beginning their partnership in the 1960s in Germany, they relocated to Las Vegas in 1967 and eventually became headliners at The Mirage, where they performed from 1990 to 2003. Their shows were known for spectacular illusions, elaborate costumes, and most notably, their integration of white tigers and white lions into performances, creating a distinctive brand of magic theater. Siegfried and Roy's production values raised the standards of magic entertainment, combining illusion with theatrical elements, dance, and live animals in ways previously unseen. Their influence extended beyond Vegas into popular culture, inspiring generations of magicians and entertainers. Though Roy retired from performing after a severe mauling by one of their tigers in 2003, their legacy as innovators in entertainment and their iconic status as a duo remained intact. Both passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving behind a transformative mark on live performance and illusion.

Thinking about the name
Siegfried
Germanic origin
“From Old Germanic 'sieg' (victory) and 'fried' (peace), Siegfried means 'victory and peace' or 'peaceful victor.' This name is rich with legendary resonance, borne by heroes in Germanic mythology and Wagner's Ring Cycle, symbolizing the ultimate warrior who seeks peace. It's a name of substantial gravitas and Romantic-era grandeur.”
