Biography

Shawn Michael Hickenbottom (born July 22, 1965), known professionally as Shawn Michaels, is an American retired professional wrestler, television personality, and actor. Considered one of the greatest wrestlers in history, Michaels spent the majority of his career with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he achieved legendary status through his technical wrestling ability, charisma, and athletic performances. He served as the Heartbreak Kid and later the Showstopper, becoming a multi-time WWE Champion and headliner of numerous WrestleManias. Michaels was instrumental in transforming professional wrestling in the 1990s, pioneering a faster-paced, more athletic style that contrasted with the larger-than-life figures of the 1980s. His feuds with rivals including The Undertaker, Bret Hart, and Triple H produced some of wrestling's most acclaimed matches. Beyond wrestling, Michaels transitioned into acting, appearing in films and television series. Following a back injury that forced his retirement from full-time competition in 1998, he eventually returned to wrestling in 2002, extending his career until his final retirement in 2010. Michaels' influence on professional wrestling's evolution and his status as a cultural icon have made him one of sports entertainment's most recognizable figures.
