Samuel Goldwyn (August 27, 1879 – January 31, 1974) was a Polish-born American film producer and motion picture pioneer who became one of Hollywood's most influential figures. Born Szmuel Gelbfisz in Warsaw, Poland, Goldwyn immigrated to the United States as a teenager and worked various jobs before entering the burgeoning film industry in the 1910s. He co-founded Goldwyn Pictures Corporation and later merged it with Metro Pictures and Louis B.
