Rusty Young

Rusty Young (born February 23, 1946) is an American rock and country rock musician best known as the founding member and primary songwriter of the influential band Poco. Born in Long Beach, California, Young pioneered the fusion of country and rock music in the late 1960s, bringing pedal steel guitar to rock audiences in innovative ways. Poco, formed in 1968, became one of the most important bands in the country rock genre, influencing countless musicians who followed. Young's distinctive steel guitar style and songwriting contributions were central to Poco's sound on classic albums like "Pickin' Up the Pieces" and "Crazy Eyes." Throughout a career spanning more than five decades, Young has remained a member of Poco through various incarnations and reunions, demonstrating his lasting commitment to the music. The band has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Young has received multiple Grammy nominations.
