Rolando Antonio Blackman (born February 26, 1957) is a retired American professional basketball player who enjoyed a successful 14-year career in the NBA, primarily as a shooting guard for the Dallas Mavericks. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Blackman attended Kansas State University where he developed into a prolific scorer. Selected by the Mavericks in the 1981 NBA Draft, he became the franchise's cornerstone player during the 1980s, leading the team to the Western Conference Finals in 1988. Blackman was a four-time NBA All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 1986, earning recognition as one of the league's elite perimeter scorers during his era. Known for his smooth shooting form, basketball intelligence, and ability to perform in crucial moments, Blackman averaged over 20 points per game during his best seasons. He finished his career with 18,886 points, establishing him among the all-time leading scorers in NBA history. After retiring, Blackman remained involved in professional basketball and has been recognized as one of the Dallas Mavericks' greatest players in franchise history, representing an era of the team before their championship success in 2011.
