Paulino Alcántara (October 7, 1896 – February 12, 1964) was a Filipino-Spanish footballer who became one of the most celebrated athletes in early modern sports history. Born in Iloilo, Philippines, to a Spanish father and Filipino mother, Alcántara moved to Barcelona as a teenager and signed with FC Barcelona in 1914. He became the club's all-time leading scorer in their early years, netting an astounding 369 goals in 430 matches between 1914 and 1927. Alcántara represented Spain internationally and won multiple La Liga titles with Barcelona during the 1910s and 1920s. His exceptional goal-scoring ability and technical skill made him a fan favorite and helped establish Barcelona as a dominant force in Spanish football. After retiring, Alcántara became a football instructor and ambassador for the sport in the Philippines, leaving a lasting legacy that elevated football's profile in his homeland.
