Noam Chomsky

Avram Noam Chomsky (born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, cognitive scientist, historian, and political activist who has fundamentally transformed our understanding of human language and cognition. In 1956, Chomsky introduced his groundbreaking theory of transformational-generative grammar, challenging behaviorist theories of language acquisition and proposing that humans possess an innate universal grammar—a biological foundation for language. This theory revolutionized linguistics and influenced psychology, philosophy, and cognitive science.
