Nicholas Tesla

Nikola Tesla (July 10, 1856 – January 7, 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor and electrical engineer whose revolutionary contributions to electrical engineering and physics have had lasting impacts on modern civilization. Born in the Austrian Empire (present-day Croatia), Tesla demonstrated exceptional aptitude for mathematics and engineering from childhood. He emigrated to the United States, where he conducted extensive research and filed numerous patents. Tesla's most significant achievement was developing alternating current (AC) electrical systems, which eventually superseded Thomas Edison's direct current (DC) systems to become the standard for electrical power distribution worldwide. Beyond AC electricity, Tesla conducted pioneering research in wireless transmission of energy, X-rays, and electromagnetic phenomena. His vision encompassed wireless power transmission and remote control technologies that anticipated modern telecommunications. Tesla's prolific inventive career resulted in over 300 patents. Despite his genius, Tesla struggled with financial management and died in relative poverty and obscurity. However, his reputation has been significantly rehabilitated in the modern era, with widespread recognition of his contributions to technology and science.
