Nell Gwynne

Eleanor 'Nell' Gwynne (c. 1650 – November 14, 1687) was an English actress, orange seller, and royal mistress during the Restoration period who became one of the most famous women of 17th-century England. She began her career as an orange seller at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane before gaining prominence as an actress, one of the first women to perform professionally on the English stage during an era when such roles were previously played by men. Her wit, charm, and talent made her a celebrated figure in London's theaters and court circles. She became the mistress of King Charles II and bore him two sons, gaining considerable influence and wealth.
