Nechama Tec

Nechama Tec (1931–2019) was a Polish-American Holocaust survivor, sociologist, and historian whose scholarly work profoundly contributed to Holocaust studies and Jewish history. Born in Łódź, Poland, Tec survived World War II with false Christian identity documents, an experience that shaped her lifelong commitment to historical documentation and survivor testimony. She became a respected academic, earning her Ph.D. in sociology and teaching at the University of Connecticut for decades.
