Neale Donald Walsch
Conversations with God series, spiritual author
Neale Donald Walsch (born September 10, 1943) is an American author, screenwriter, and speaker known for his best-selling Conversations with God series. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Walsch had a challenging early life marked by poverty and personal struggles. After years of working various jobs and experiencing significant hardship, he began writing what he described as a dialogue with God, initially as a form of self-therapy. These writings became the basis for his first book, Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue (1995), which unexpectedly became a bestseller, translated into 37 languages with millions of copies sold worldwide. The book's accessible approach to spirituality and its messages about personal responsibility and divine connection resonated with readers across many demographics. Walsch followed this success with numerous additional books in the Conversations with God series and other works exploring similar themes. He has established the nonprofit ReCreation Foundation to promote his philosophical teachings globally. While praised by many for offering spiritual guidance and comfort, Walsch has also faced criticism from traditional religious communities regarding his theological perspectives. Regardless, his prolific writing career and influential role in New Age spirituality have made him one of the most widely-read spiritual authors of recent decades.
