Naim Suleymanoglu (January 23, 1967 – November 18, 2017) was a Turkish weightlifter of Bulgarian ethnicity who became one of the most decorated athletes in Olympic history. Standing at just 4'10" (147 cm) and weighing around 150 pounds, Suleymanoglu defied physical limitations to become a three-time Olympic gold medalist (1988, 1992, 2000) and a 16-time world champion. Born as Naim Suleymanov in Bulgaria, he moved to Turkey in 1986 and became a Turkish citizen, beginning an extraordinary career that would captivate the world.
