Father Mychal Mark Judge (May 11, 1933 – September 11, 2001) was an American Franciscan friar and Catholic chaplain for the Fire Department of New York City. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Judge devoted his life to serving others through religious vocation and community ministry. He was beloved by the FDNY for his compassionate presence, spiritual guidance, and unwavering commitment to the firefighters and their families. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Father Judge rushed to the World Trade Center after the first plane struck, providing last rites and comfort to the injured and dying. He was struck and killed by debris from the collapse of the South Tower, making him the first recorded victim of the attacks.
