Muriel Rukeyser

Muriel Rukeyser (December 15, 1913 – February 6, 1980) was an American poet, playwright, filmmaker, and political activist whose work fused artistic expression with social consciousness. Born in New York City to a wealthy family, Rukeyser rejected conventional privilege to dedicate herself to poetry that addressed injustice, war, and human liberation.
