Mata Amritanandamayi (born September 27, 1953) is an Indian spiritual leader, philanthropist, and religious figure who is widely known by her honorific name 'Amma,' meaning 'Mother' in Sanskrit. Born Sudhamani Idamannel in Kerala, she demonstrated spiritual inclinations from childhood and began her practice of embracing devotees as a form of divine love and spiritual transmission.
