Masako Saito

Masako Saito (1926–2010) was a pioneering Japanese women's basketball player and coach whose contributions helped establish women's basketball as a competitive sport in Japan. During the immediate post-World War II period, when Japan was reconstructing its society and sports infrastructure, Saito emerged as a key figure in promoting women's athletic participation at a time when it was uncommon in Japanese society.
