Madeleine Albright

Madeleine Jana Albright (May 15, 1937 – March 23, 2022) was an American diplomat and politician who served as the 64th Secretary of State of the United States from 1997 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, she and her family emigrated to the United States during the Cold War, eventually settling in Denver. She earned degrees from Wellesley College and Columbia University, establishing herself as an expert on Central and Eastern European affairs. Before her tenure as Secretary of State, Albright served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 1993 to 1997, where she became known for her forceful advocacy and distinctive diplomatic style.
