Lucius Dubignon Clay (April 23, 1898 – April 16, 1978) was an American military officer and administrator who played a crucial role in post-World War II Germany and early Cold War diplomacy. Following Germany's surrender in 1945, he was appointed Military Governor of the American occupation zone and later became the supreme commander of American forces in Europe.
