Linda Chavez
Conservative politician, first Latina Republican Senate nominee, Fox News commentator
Linda Chavez (born June 6, 1947) is an American politician, author, commentator, and television personality of Hispanic descent. She served as White House Director of Public Liaison under President Ronald Reagan and later as the Director of the National Commission on Migrant Education. Chavez was the first Latina to be nominated as a major party's candidate for U.S. Senate when she ran as the Republican nominee in Maryland in 1986. She has worked as a political analyst and commentator for Fox News and has authored several books on Hispanic-American issues and conservative politics. Chavez has been a prominent conservative voice in debates about immigration, education, and civil rights, often advocating for color-blind policies rather than race-based affirmative action. Her career has spanned academia, government service, media, and advocacy, making her one of the most visible Hispanic-American conservative political figures. Though sometimes controversial for her policy positions among some Latino communities, Chavez has maintained significant influence in Republican politics and policy circles.

Chavez
Spanish origin
“A Spanish surname meaning 'keys' (from 'clave'), traditionally used as a family name but increasingly adopted as a given name. The name carries historical weight, most notably through César Chávez, the civil rights activist, making it both culturally significant and distinctly Hispanic.”
