László Moholy-Nagy

László Moholy-Nagy (July 20, 1895 – November 24, 1946) was a Hungarian-American painter, photographer, sculptor, and Bauhaus instructor whose innovative work fundamentally shaped modernism and industrial design. Born in Bácsborsód, Hungary, Moholy-Nagy initially studied law before dedicating himself to art during the turbulent post-World War I period. He became a pivotal figure at the Bauhaus school in Germany, where he taught the preliminary course and championed the integration of art, technology, and craft. His contributions spanned multiple media: he pioneered kinetic sculpture, experimental photography including cameraless 'photograms,' and film.
