Juwan Howard

Juwan Antonio Howard (born February 7, 1973) is an American professional basketball player and coach who enjoyed a successful 19-year NBA career and has become a prominent college basketball coach. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Howard played college basketball at the University of Michigan before being drafted by the Washington Bullets in 1994. During his NBA career, he played for multiple teams including the Miami Heat, where he won an NBA championship in 2013, and became known for his defensive prowess, basketball IQ, and versatility as a power forward. Standing 6'9", he was a reliable scorer and rebounder who appeared in multiple All-Star games and Finals. After retiring as a player, Howard returned to his alma mater in 2019 as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team, where he has worked to rebuild the program and develop young talent. His return to Michigan represents a full-circle moment in his career, having left a significant legacy as a player there as well.
