Dame Judith Olivia Dench (born December 9, 1934) is a legendary British actress renowned for her exceptional talent across theater, film, and television. Born in York, England, she trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and became a cornerstone of British theater, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company for nearly a decade. Her film career took off with leading roles in period dramas, but she achieved international fame after being cast as M, the head of MI6, in the James Bond film GoldenEye (1995) at age 60—a role she brilliantly played for 17 years across seven Bond films.
