Thinking about the name
Jamar
Arabic origin
“Derived from the Arabic Jamal, meaning 'beautiful' or 'handsome,' Jamar became a distinctly African American masculine name during the 1970s-80s, representing a wave of parents reclaiming Arabic and African heritage through naming. The name is direct, strong, and carries historical resonance with the Black Power and cultural pride movements of the era.”
