Isiah Lord Thomas III (born February 6, 1961) is an American professional basketball player and executive widely regarded as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history. Standing just 6'1", Thomas overcame his modest height to become a dominant force in the league during the 1980s and early 1990s. Drafted 2nd overall in 1981 by the Detroit Pistons, he spent 13 of his 18 NBA seasons with the franchise, becoming the team's franchise player and leader. Thomas led the Pistons' 'Bad Boys' teams to consecutive NBA championships in 1989 and 1990, known for their physical, defensive-oriented play. A 12-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection, he was a master of the pick-and-roll and known for his competitive fire and leadership. Thomas retired with 18,822 career points and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000. Beyond his playing career, he has held executive positions in the NBA, including serving as the president of basketball operations for the Toronto Raptors.
