Hamilton Bohannon
Funk and disco musician, 'Disco Stomp' creator
Hamilton Frederick Bohannon (March 7, 1942 – October 27, 2015) was an American funk, soul, and disco musician best known for his 1975 breakthrough single 'Disco Stomp,' which became an iconic dance track that defined the emerging disco genre. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Bohannon initially worked as a sideline drummer and session musician before transitioning to solo success as a bandleader and producer. His funky, percussion-heavy sound combined elements of soul, funk, and early disco, creating a danceable style that influenced the development of disco music. Beyond 'Disco Stomp,' Bohannon released numerous albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including 'The Bohannon Band,' 'Bohannon,' and 'Good Life,' establishing himself as a consistent presence in funk and soul music. His contributions to the disco era and his role in bridging funk and dance music helped shape popular music during a transformative period. Though his mainstream visibility declined after the disco boom's peak, Bohannon continued performing and recording until his death in 2015, with 'Disco Stomp' remaining a beloved classic in funk and disco circles. His work exemplifies the innovation and musicianship of the 1970s funk-soul-disco transition.

Hamilton
English origin
“Originally a Scottish place name meaning 'crooked stream' (from Old English 'hamel' and 'ton'), Hamilton became a prestigious surname and given name through aristocratic usage. The name gained prominence through Alexander Hamilton, the American Founding Father, and has been revived as a modern given name reflecting sophistication and historical weight.”
