Grant Hill
NBA All-Star, Olympic gold medalist, sports analyst
Grant Hill (born October 5, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player who became one of the NBA's most accomplished athletes of the 1990s and 2000s. Born in Boston to a prominent family—his father Calvin Hill was an NFL star and his mother a professor—Grant combined athleticism with intelligence and versatility. Playing primarily as a forward, Hill excelled with the Detroit Pistons early in his career, leading them to playoff success and earning multiple All-Star selections. His basketball IQ, defensive prowess, and scoring ability made him one of the game's most complete players. Hill won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 1996 and continued his excellence with the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns. Though career-threatening ankle injuries limited his later years, Hill remained a productive player through his retirement in 2013. Beyond basketball, Hill became a prominent sports analyst for ESPN and later Turner Sports, lending his credibility and articulate commentary to basketball broadcasts. His legacy includes both his on-court achievements and his role in elevating the profile of athletes in sports media and business.

Grant
French origin
“Derived from Old French 'grant,' meaning 'great' or 'large,' Grant emerged as both a surname and given name in Scotland and England. The name is authoritative yet approachable, suggesting generosity (to grant something) and greatness. It balances strength with a friendly, accessible tone.”
