Graciela Iturbide (born May 8, 1942) is one of Mexico's most celebrated and influential photographers, internationally recognized for her poetic and humanistic approach to documentary photography. Born in Mexico City, Iturbide initially pursued painting before transitioning to photography in the late 1960s, studying under the mentorship of renowned photographer Manuel Álvarez Bravo. Her distinctive black-and-white photography captures the essence of Mexican culture, indigenous communities, and spiritual traditions with remarkable sensitivity and artistic depth.
