Peter Edward "Ginger" Baker (August 19, 1939 – October 6, 2019) was a British drummer and musician who became one of the most influential and technically innovative drummers in rock music history. Born in Lewisham, London, Baker developed his exceptional drumming skills by studying various musical genres, including jazz, funk, and African rhythms, which he synthesized into a uniquely powerful and complex style. He rose to international prominence as the drummer for Cream (1966-1968), one of the first major rock supergroups, alongside bassist Jack Bruce and guitarist Eric Clapton.
