Garry Kasparov

Garry Kimovich Kasparov (born April 13, 1963) is a Russian chess grandmaster, former World Chess Champion, and one of the most dominant chess players in history. Born in Baku, Azerbaijan (then Soviet Union), Kasparov demonstrated extraordinary chess talent from childhood and became the world's youngest grandmaster at age 22. He defeated Anatoly Karpov in 1985 to become World Chess Champion, a title he held for 15 years, successfully defending it against multiple challengers. During his reign, Kasparov achieved the highest Elo rating in chess history at that time and was considered unbeatable at his peak. He was known for his aggressive, dynamic playing style and his ability to innovate opening theory.
