Gabriel Kuhn

Gabriel Kuhn (1487–1532), known by his Latinized name Gabriel Zwilling, was a German theologian and reformer who played a significant role in the Protestant Reformation during its critical early decades. Born in Eisleben, Kuhn became an Augustinian friar and priest before embracing Martin Luther's theological innovations. As one of Luther's most devoted followers and collaborators, Kuhn worked tirelessly to promote Reformation principles throughout Saxony and beyond. He was particularly influential in implementing practical reforms within churches, including the introduction of vernacular language services and advocating for clerical marriage—positions that were revolutionary in the context of 16th-century Catholic practice.
